31/10/00 RISETH READY TO LEAVE
Celtic's Norwegian international Vidar Riseth has said that he is considering leaving the club if he does not get more first-team football. 30/10/00 MAD TO CHOOSE ENGLAND OVER CELTIC
Celtic chief executive Allan MacDonald reckons Martin O'Neill would be mad to take the England job. According to some reports, O'Neill is on an FA shortlist to replace Kevin Keegan. But MacDonald insisted that not only had no approach been made but that he believed O'Neill would not want the post anyway.
29/10/00 MOTHERWELL 3 CELTIC 3
Celtic's charge towards the Scottish Premier League title was interrupted by a resilient Motherwell side and a debatable refereeing decision at Fir Park tonight. In the end, Martin O'Neill's men were able to extend their lead by a single point following an entertaining six-goal thriller. But they can legitimately claim that they should have had all three points after Johan Mjallby's shot was shown by television replays to have crossed the line, yet was not given as a goal by referee Hugh Dallas.

28/10/00 THOMPSON IMPRESSED BY SCOTTISH GAME
Celtic midfielder Alan Thompson admits he has been shocked by the high standard of the Scottish Premier League and is willing to stand up against anybody south of the border who is willing to argue. The 26-year-old spent his career in England with Bolton and Aston Villa and won Under-21 honours for the national team. But Thompson chose to move to Glasgow in September to revive his career and his decision has been justified so far with Celtic going well on all fronts.

25/10/00 SUTTON 'CONCERN' AHEAD OF BORDEAUX CLASH
Celtic manager Martin O'Neill suffered a major injury headache on the eve of their UEFA Cup clash in Bordeaux with striker Chris Sutton struggling to be fit. The £6m summer signing suffered a knock to the left ankle during Saturday's 2-1 victory over Dundee United and he is struggling to shake it off in time for the second round first leg tie against the 1999 French champions. O'Neill is giving him all the time to prove his fitness and will give him a late fitness test before deciding his line-up for the tough test at the Stade Lescure.
24/10/00 SMERTIN TO MISS BHOYS CLASH
Celtic will face an easier task in Thursday's UEFA Cup tie in Bordeaux thanks to today's news that their opponents' Russian international Alexei Smertin has been ruled out with a knee injury. The midfielder has been a mainstay for the French team this season, and his absence is a second blow to coach Elie Baup who is also waiting on the fitness of Marc Wilmots. The Belgian international was forced to limp out of the weekend draw with Lyon with an ankle injury.
21/10/00 CELTIC 2 DUNDEE UNITED 1
Martin O'Neill's men increased their lead at the top of the Premier League to eight points with victory over crisis club United, who gave manager Alex Smith some hope for the future with a spirited late fightback. Goals from Henrik Larsson and Alan Thompson put the home side in the driving seat, but a late own goal from Paul Lambert had the Hoops hanging on nervously in the closing stages. The win puts Celtic five points clear of Hibernian while Old Firm rivals Rangers are now a massive 12 points adrift of them.

Celtic insist that they expect defender Morten Wieghorst to make a full recovery despite his condition worsening slightly in hospital. 11/10/00 LARSSON HAPPY TO SEE OUT CAREER
Celtic striker Henrik Larsson has revealed that he wants to end his career with the Parkhead club. The Swedish international still has three years left to run on his contract but he is prepared to stay in Scotland beyond that time if the club want him. Larsson has battled back from a career-threatening broken leg and showed with his performances and goals this season how much the club missed him.
10/10/00 CELTIC SET FOR LARGE CUP FOLLOWING
Celtic have been allocated 3,500 tickets for the UEFA Cup second round trip to Bordeaux. Early indications suggested the Parkhead club would only receive 1,000 tickets for the first leg in France on Thursday, October 26. That would have left a large number of Celtic fans heartbroken especially after they took a huge following to Lyon last October for a UEFA Cup clash.
8/10/00 CELTIC SET TO GET COLLYMORE
Stan Collymore is expected to tie up his move to Celtic on Monday. Martin O'Neill has declared that he may be ready to throw the striker a new lifeline and Colly is expected to grasp it. 3/10/00 CELTIC DENY McCANN'S CLAIMS
Celtic have poured cold water on allegations by former chief executive Fergus McCann that they have tried to make him a scapegoat for the club's failings. In breaking a silence he had kept since leaving Parkhead last year, McCann made clear his disgruntlement with those whom he saw had criticised his handling of club affairs. In a strongly-worded statement, McCann accused ''various individuals connected with, or claiming to be supportive of Celtic'' of taking advantage of his absence ''to advance their own agendas or indeed shift blame for their own failings''.

After losing their 100% record with a 2-1 defeat to HJK Helsinki on Thursday, the Glasgow side also dropped their first points of the league campaign with a 1-1 draw at Aberdeen yesterday. The players looked jaded after a gruelling extra-time effort in Finland, where they needed a goal from Chris Sutton to keep their UEFA Cup hopes alive, and they needed some late heroics from Larsson to scrape a 1-1 draw and maintain their unbeaten league run.
