Celtic dealt with Hearts today in
a way which should be a warning to Rangers for next weeks Old
Firm. We scored four excellent goals in a match in which the
biggest surprise was that Petta was really good...again!
To get us started Chris Sutton
scored two first half headers from Bobby Petta crosses. The
first cross from the left had a mean curl and Chris glanced it
in unchallenged.
The second was from a corner from
the right, with Petta once again providing the scoring
opportunity. Sutton rose above the defense and glanced it in to
make it 2-0.
The goal which ultimately killed
off the opposition was later in the first half when the ball
broke from the box and Paul Lambert hit it in hard. Larsson then
wrong footed the keeper with a backheel deflection.
But the score could have been
very different going into the second half if it hadn't been for
two outstanding saves from Jonathan Gould. One from point blank
range and the other from a fierce free kick effort from Severin.
Early in the second half Chris
Sutton was awarded a penalty after Severin pulled him back in
the box. However Larsson was complacent and pulled it over the
bar.
Heart then pulled one back after
a shot proceeding a free kick went in the net. But before long
Celtic had delivered the sucker punch when Lubo Moravcik
skillfully hit the ball off the bar and then in from near the
goal.
Despite a late goal from
substitute Juanjo Celtic were convincing winners. However the
two goals gave a reminder that the defense still needs further
investment if we are to avoid losing goals that could cost
points. |
